Welcome Initiative
We want to welcome you into the exciting world of wine appreciation and education.
The Welcome Initiative is one that includes both outreach into the community and educational award opportunities.

Welcome Awards are provided through the generosity of the Napa Valley Wine Academy, who will offer online Level 1 WSET Award in Wines for Wine Unify’s recipients. Recipients will also receive glassware courtesy of Gabriel-Glas and a gift certificate for supplemental study wines from Wine.com. These courses will be awarded to those who may or may not work directly in the wine profession, but would benefit from exposure to it. The goal is to break down a common barrier to entry in the wine world – being included.
In addition to the Level 1 WSET class, award recipients will be welcomed to the Wine Unify community by way of virtual group meetings and happy hours and access to mentors.
As of January 2024, Wine Unify has awarded nearly 90 Welcome Awards!
All applicants and nominees must identify as a non-white, underrepresented minority, be over the age of 21, provide a professional reference, and must demonstrate an interest in learning more about the world of wine. See our full explanation of guidelines here.
Welcome Awards Summary
WSET Level 1 Online
Taught by Napa Valley Wine Academy, which includes a wine tasting kit with samples (187ml) of the wines for the course.
Gabriel-Glas Glassware
Recipients will receive a set of glasses from Gabriel-Glas, for both personal enjoyment and study.
Supplemental Wine
Recipients will receive a gift certificate to buy a WSET Level 1 Wine Set from Wine.com for learning and enjoyment.
Collective Mentorship
Recipients will have access to our mentorship team for questions and support during their journey.
